Cho Ok-hwa, the 12th intangible cultural asset of Gyeongsangbuk-do and the 20th master of traditional food, has been designated as the holder of Andong Soju manufacturing functions thanks to the government's active discovery of Andong Soju, which was enjoyed by Andong people for 1,200 years, around the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Andong Soju, which had been passed down since the Silla Dynasty, was designated as an intangible cultural asset of Gyeongsangbuk-do on May 13, 1987 by Cho Ok-hwa, who made, passed down, and preserved the traditional Andong Soju brewing method. On September 18, 2000, she was designated as a grand master of traditional food. Currently, Andong Soju has been designated as an intangible cultural asset and traditional food master in North Gyeongsang Province, and is reproduced by Cho Ok-hwa, a function holder of Andong Soju, and has inherited the tradition by passing it on to her daughter-in-law, Bae Kyung-hwa (a function holder of Andong Soju), and her son Kim Yeon-bak (director of the Andong Soju Museum).Cho Ok-hwa, the 12th intangible cultural asset of Gyeongsangbuk-do and the 20th master of traditional food, has been designated as the holder of Andong Soju manufacturing functions thanks to the government's active discovery of Andong Soju, which was enjoyed by Andong people for 1,200 years, around the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
